Gung hay fat choy! Welcome to the Year of the Monkey! Witness spectacular lion dancers, observe professional calligraphers, sample delicious Chinese food and more all made possible through our partnership with Marin Chinese Cultural Association. Be sure to stop by our exhibition Children’s China and discover even more timeless traditions.

Schedule of Events

All day: Facilitated Chinese games and performances by Guzheng musicians throughout the Museum

10 a.m.: Marin Chinese Cultural Association Lion Dance Team, Festival Plaza

10:30 a.m: Chinese food* sale opens, Playhouse

10:30 a.m. - 2 p.m: Calligraphy demonstration, Idea Spot

11 a.m.: Dance performances by the Chinese Dance Theatre of San Francisco, Discovery Theatre

12 p.m.: Storytelling, Festival Plaza

1 p.m.: Dance performances by the Chinese Dance Theatre of San Francisco, Discovery Theatre

2 p.m.: Marin Chinese Cultural Association Lion Dance Team, Festival Plaza

2 - 2:30 p.m: Marin Chinese Cultural Association Lion Dance Team, Festival Plaza

3 p.m.: Storytelling, Festival Plaza

*Chinese food for sale includes: fried rice, chow mein, skewered chicken with salad, dim sum (lotus wraps, egg rolls, baked pork buns, vegetarian steamed bun), mochi, egg tarts, sesame seed balls, juice boxes, soft drinks, hot tea and coffee.

Chinese New Year is presented in partnership with the Marin Chinese Cultural Association (MCCA). The MCCA is supported by Bank of Marin.
