Tot Spot offers crawlers, early walkers and toddlers a multi-sensory experience as they explore animal homes and habitats.
Inside Tot Spot
Balance to stand, walk, roll or jump on a wobbly, water-filled pond. Crawl through the waterfall. Try on a fish costume.
Crawl and climb among the “roots” of a tree. Scale a baby-size mountain. Dress up as a bumble bee.
Outside Tot Spot
Splash in a stream that flows through a multi-level faux rock stream bed.
Explore a gently rolling, grassy area. Meet a wood rat in his nest of sticks. Crawl like a gopher through a tunnel.
For Babies & Toddlers Only
Please note: Tot Spot is designed to be a safe location for infants and toddlers under 42 inches in height only (about age 3). Only children shorter than the ruler at the entrance to Tot Spot can be admitted. For more about the height restriction, please read What Ages?
Museum at Home
No need for expensive bath toys! Include turkey basters, funnels, strainers, pumps, and cups to support your child’s bath time play. Fill up a bucket, find old paintbrushes, and bring them outside. Try “painting” the sidewalk and watch as the sun evaporates the water. Have your child fill containers with water and put them in the freezer. Allow them to take the ice out of the containers and watch as it melts. Try adding liquid watercolor to the water and “paint” with your ice cubes.
- What do you notice?
- How is the water different?
- What does it feel like?
Water is a wonderful way for children to be creative without any specific goal or end product. Allow them to splash around and build confidence—just remember to bring an extra set of clothes!
