Jason Jordan
What are your passions outside of work?
- Drumming – I do freestyle, African drumming, anything goes. I’m also a computer technician, so I prepare networks and do computer repairs. If you’ve got a problem, I can fix it.
Do you have a family?- I’m from San Francisco – born and raised in the Tenderloin. I live with my Dad. I plan to be in San Francisco for life!
What are your inspirations?- The children. It’s true that it takes a village to raise a child. You’re looking at the future there, and they’re going to be taking care of us when we’re older, so what they learn now is really important.
What is your favorite thing about the Museum?- The staff. It’s a great work environment. The management makes you feel comfortable to be here, and we have people from all different ethnic backgrounds, all different types of diversity, all different attributes. Everyone has their own skills and so many interesting things that they bring. It makes it a fun place to work.
What is your life dream?- I’ve wanted to be in the San Francisco Police Department since I was seven. I was a Captain in the SFPD Cadet Program. Now I’ve passed all the tests, and they’re just doing background checks so I hope to join the SFPD soon. I think it’s a job that uses many of the same skills I use here – helping people, problem-solving. Sometimes you just need a third party to help solve problems. I like being the mediator.
What are your favorite movies or music? - I’m very well-rounded, and I like all types of music: R&B, classical, rock. Because I like percussion, I listen to the beats to see what the composers were thinking. In terms of movies, recently I liked the Transformers movie, how they put it together, the special effects - wow.
If you were an animal, which animal would you be? - I’d like to be a cheetah because they’re very fast, and I like to run. They’re also unpredictable. Depending on what environment they’re in, it’s fight or flight. We all get into problems or situations, and how you handle it affects your future. I believe that.
Where would you like to travel?- I’d love to go to Japan because I love technology, and they’re on the leading edge. They must have Playstation 5 over there already!
What are your hobbies or quirks?- I love energy drinks. Every morning I start off with an Amped energy drink and a bag of cinnamon Teddy Grahams.
What would you be in another life?- An astronaut. I’d try to go out of the solar system to see if there’s life out there. I feel we’re not alone – I don’t mean green men six feet tall, but there has to be other life out there.
