Special Summer Programs

These programs are included in the cost of admission and will run June – August.

Daily

9:30 – 10 a.m. Toddler Circle Time, Tot Spot

Sing songs, dance, wiggle and hop around in this fun-filled program made especially for our youngest Museum visitors.

11 - 11:30 a.m. “Curious George” Storytime, Various Locations

Join our educators for a special storytime dedicated to Curious George and his misadventures, followed by an interactive dramatic play opportunity.

11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Curiosity Corner, Satterlee Way

Expand your curiosity with in-depth explorations of math, science, engineering, nature and art in programs like Kitchen Chemistry, Puzzlers and Dig Deeper.

2:45 – 3:15 p.m. Creativity Kits, Various Locations

Play in new ways with our educators in locations that your child knows and loves throughout the Museum with themes like Bubble Boppin’, Treasure Hunting and Math-in-Motion.

Monday – Thursday

3:45 – 4:30 p.m. Research Toys, Research Lab

Participate in an interactive activity to learn more about how the latest research on child development informs our Museum programming.

Friday - Sunday

3:45 – 4:15 p.m. “Curious George” Storytime, Various Locations

Join our educators for a special storytime dedicated to Curious George and his misadventures, followed by an interactive dramatic play opportunity.

Off-Site Adventures, Various Locations

June 19, July 11 & 17, August 2 & 21
10:30 – 11 a.m. or 11:30 a.m.

In these family adventures designed to share a little bit of history and natural wonder, experience new parts of Fort Baker in trips to Horseshoe Cove, the Parade Grounds, the Batteries and local trails. 

Curiosity Fridays with Curious George

Monkey around at the Museum with special programs and events, appearances by George and extended hours until 7:30 p.m.

August 21: Monkeying Around

Highlights include appearances by Curious George, a dancing storytime and a musical performance.

9:30 – 10 a.m. Toddler Circle Time

Sing songs, dance, wiggle and hop around in this fun-filled program made especially for our youngest Museum visitors. Your child can practice language and movement skills while making friends!

10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Curious George Appearance    

Come hang out and take photos with Curious George!  

10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Off-Site Adventure: U.S. Coast Guard Pier

Experience new parts of Fort Baker in these family adventures designed to share history and natural wonder. In this adventure, visit the neighboring Coast Guard and see their boats!

11 - 11:30 a.m. “Curious George” Storytime with Curious George

It’s everyone’s favorite monkey! Join our educators for a special story time dedicated to Curious George and his misadventures followed by an interactive dramatic play opportunity. Today's story: Curious George Takes a Train Choo, Choo! Explore trains with us – create tracks, become a conductor and use large scale trains around the Museum.

11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Curiosity Corner: Tinker with Transportation

Inspired by local transportation systems (trains, helicopters, cars, etc.) children can put together a working vehicle using simple machines. They can test their creation in a neighborhood they create complete with roads, railways and more.

1:30 - 2:30 p.m. Build a mini DIY car

Come build a mini DIY Car! Imagination Supply Co., an SF based company founded by educators, will lead a hands-on introduction to engineering and problem-solving. First 30 people get to keep their car.

2:45 – 3:15 a.m. Creativity Kits

Explore like never before! Play in locations that your child knows and loves throughout the Museum in new ways with our educators. Think: Bubble Boppin’, Treasure Hunting, and Math-in-Motion.

3:30 – 4 p.m. Interactive Shipwrecked Play with Barry Eitel

Barry Eitel is back and inviting YOU to come hunt for treasure in this interactive play experience!

3:30 - 7:30 p.m. Curious George Appearance

Come hang out and take photos with Curious George!

Barry Eitel is back and inviting YOU to come hunt for treasure in this interactive play experience!

5 – 5:45 p.m. Jelly Jam Time Story Dancing

Children will play a major role in the telling of a story by creating sound effects, movement and theatrics.

5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Curiosity Corner: Tinker with Transportation

6:15 – 7 p.m. Musical performance: Asheba

Dance 'til you drop during this musical performance on Festival Plaza! You may even get a dance in with George!

7:15 – 7:30 p.m. Curious George Meet and Greet

Get your last minute photos with George before the evening ends!
