Meet Sara Norris

Dear Bay Area Teachers,

My name is Sara Norris and like you, have happily dedicated my professional life to learning the art of teaching. Much of this learning has come directly from my work with kids, and a great deal of it has been gained through partnerships with amazing teachers like you.

Before coming to the Museum, I spent a number of years as a preschool teacher in Santa Cruz and Marin counties. After obtaining my Master’s in Early Childhood Education and Multiple Subjects Credential from Mills College, I worked as a bilingual classroom teacher in the San Leandro Unified School District. Most recently, I taught at Mills College Children’s School where I was a classroom teacher, researcher, curriculum designer and mentor for teaching credential and Master’s candidates.

As Teacher-in-Residence, my job is to design and facilitate innovative, child-centered educational experiences for our youngest scholars in which they can playfully explore math and science content while growing their love of learning and sense of competence as learners. I am particularly interested in working with teachers to integrate the new Common Core Math and Next Generation Science Standards into the wonderful teaching that they are already doing. I love collaborating with teachers and I hope to have the opportunity to contribute to the incredible work and play that you do with your students.

See you at the Museum!

Sara
