Summer Discovery Camp 2013

Dear Friends,
I am so excited to welcome you to another amazing summer at the Bay Area Discovery Museum. This year I am also proud to turn the reigns of camp over to the multi-talented Danielle Pitchford who has been working at my side for the last five years. As always I will be here to help make camp as wonderful as you’ve come to expect and please feel free to contact me at any time if you have questions, or need my support.
Warmly,

Welcome to 2013 Bay Area Discovery Camps.

We are thrilled to jump start this summer with our one-of-a-kind themed camps. Discovery camps are an incredible opportunity for children and their families to experience our educational philosophy through in-depth experiences at the Museum. We believe in creating an environment where children are free to learn through play and self-guided inquiry. Our team of staff empowers the children to follow their personal impetus through open-ended, child-directed programs that focus on the process of learning, investigation, and discovery. Our unique local environment and on-site exhibit spaces encourages awareness and knowledge of the world around us through authentic experiences. Every day we are discovering how to learn together in order to support intrinsic motivation and a life-long love of learning. We cannot wait to share this summer with you.
This year we are excited to offer two classrooms of our super popular Big Discoveries camp each week! Due to demand, we’ve expanded our 3-year-old camp to accommodate more children. Each classroom will still have a 1:4 adult to child ratio.
I also want to thank all of our amazing families for their thoughtful feedback from last year’s Discovery Camp surveys. Due to these responses, we were able to gather some ideas for our brand new enriching afternoon camp. I would like to present to you Summer Camp Sampler which offers a mixture of our most popular camps. Each day features best-of activities from Shipwrecks and Treasure Hunts, Super Heroes and Heroines, On the Bay and Art Attack! plus gross motor activities such as kid-made obstacle courses, yoga and hikes.
This will be my fifth summer here at the Museum and every year I look forward to with sharing memories with friends both old and new. It is amazing to see children participate, collaborate and create all summer long. Please do not hesitate to call if you have any further questions. I look forward to hearing from you.
We’re so excited to see you all here this summer!
Sincerely,
Danielle Pitchford
