About the Workshop

Educators intuitively understand that active, exploratory learning leads to deeper engagement, stronger problem solving, and enduring understanding. Advances in brain imaging and research on the neuro-science of creativity are helping us understand why this is. Come spend a fun and interactive day at the Bay Area Discovery Museum—a leader in hands-on learning for preschool and early elementary learners—and participate in an interactive two day workshop led by the Museum’s Center for Childhood Creativity. This workshop is adapted from our award-winning* teacher training programs.

Participants will learn:

• how current neuroscience research applies to our work as educators;
• a framework for facilitating learning environments that promote creativity;
• strategies to increase student engagement and deepen learning across content areas.

The workshop is for pre-K to 3rd grade educators and continuing education units are available. Lunch will be provided. A 10% group discount is available on general ticket price for groups of three or more. Contact Cami Gordon to register for the group discount at (415) 339-3963 or cgordonbadmorg.

Half-Day Option

September 24, 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Educators with limited time and a particular interest in research are invited for a half-day seminar which will include two distinguished research talks related to creativity. The first presentation will focus on the seven critical components of creativity. The second presentation will focus on creativity and the brain.
