Bay Area Discovery Museum

557 McReynolds Rd
Sausalito, CA 94965

Directions

From San Francisco and the South Bay: Take 101 across the Golden Gate Bridge and take the Alexander Avenue exit just after the Vista Point. Follow signs to Fort Baker and the Bay Area Discovery Museum.

From the East Bay: Take 580 west across the Richmond/San Rafael bridge. Follow the signs to 101 south, then follow the directions from the North Bay.

From the North Bay: Take 101 south. After the Waldo Tunnel and just before the Golden Gate Bridge, take the second and last Sausalito exit and follow signs to Fort Baker and the Bay Area Discovery Museum.

Parking

Free parking is available in lots next to the Museum. Additional parking is available at the waterfront, by following the road through our main parking lot.

Additional parking can also be found by turning right when exiting the parking lot, and driving up East Road to a dirt lot on the left, or the Bay Trail parking further up the road to the right. Please be advised that there is no sidewalk along East Road.

Public Transportation

Unfortunately, no buses currently go directly to the Museum. Visit 511.org for details.

Our suggestion is to take the ferry from San Francisco to Sausalito and then catch a cab from the hotel across the street from the ferry landing - the ride is about 2 miles. We do not recommend walking as the roads are narrow and without sidewalks for much of the way.

Marin Headlands Road Improvements

The National Park Service will be working on the roads, trails, and bike lanes in the Headlands and Fort Baker over the next several months. The work is projected to last February through May. For details on road closures, please visit ProjectHeadlands.gov.

Road delays and closures: March 4 - 5. Download PDF.
