Wanted: Musicians and Sound Artists Interested in Sharing with Children
What would be an exciting way to expose children to the cutting-edge sound of the Bay Area? The Bay Area Discovery Museum would love to host some âSound Happeningsââvisits from all types of sound artists and musicians who would enjoy sharing their work with our young visitors. These informal demonstrations, performances, workshops, or discussions would occur in conjunction with our Art Studio theme âExploring Soundâ.
What are we talking here?
Well, just about anything. Weâd love to invite anyone who explores sound (i.e. plays instruments, builds sound machines, spins records, tap dances, practices birdcalls, etc.) to come share what you do. Perhaps you could bring in something youâve created, bring a friend and jam for awhile, or just hang out with an instrument or talent and chat with the kidsâŚItâs entirely open-ended and informal. Works in progress are greatâcome show us what youâre in the middle of building or composing and how you do it. You could come for anywhere from 10 minutes to 2 or 3 hours. Museum visitors will be informed of the happening and invited to drop in and check it out.
When can this happen?
We would like to host these happenings on afternoons between November 18th and January 6th. Tuesday through Friday anytime between 1pm and 3pm. Saturday and Sunday anytime between 1pm and 4 pm.
Whatâs the space like?

If you have any specific requests or questions about the space, please email them to me.
Is thereâŚcompensation?

These Sound Happenings are an idea created by the Education Staff because we respect and love the work that folks are doing around sound and music in the Bay Area. Sadly, though, our Art Studios donât have extra funding for visiting artists, so it w...
